artists.

The first workshop series in 2026 is for playwrights, led by British playwright Simon Stephens. 

Our Open House Programme is designed to support the independent theatre community by providing a space for development, rehearsals and workshops.

At Auckland Theatre Company you can book our rehearsal space as part of our Open House programme, or borrow props and costumes from our store. 

The Engine Room is Auckland Theatre Company’s professional development residency for early to mid-career theatre practitioners. It supports artists who are ready to expand their creative practice within the context of a producing theatre company.
