About Symonds Street Parking Restrictions (effective from 25 March 2008)
The Maidment Theatre opened on 11 April, 1976 with an inaugural season that ranged from lectures to art exhibitions and even a production of Jean Genet’s The Balcony.
Location: On the University of Auckland Campus at 8 Alfred Street.
Parking: There are 1200 spaces in the Owen G Glenn Building, 12 Grafton Road (University of Auckland School of Business). Payment is by cash, Visa or Mastercard only. If in the event you lose your parking ticket, a charge of $30 applies.
Hours and charges of operation:
Monday – Friday : 7.00 am - 11.30pm
Saturday hours : 12:00 noon – 11:30pm
Sunday hours : 12:00 noon – 5:00pm
Monday - Friday:
7:00am – 6:00pm : $4.00 per hour
6:00pm – 11:30pm : $5.00 flat rate
Weekends/Public Holidays : $5.00 flat rate
After hours access:
Use the parking ticket to open the pedestrian door. Ticket is to be paid and validated at the pay station located inside. To raise the barrier arm, drivers use the ticket and drive directly to the exit grille.
Other parking options: There is limited parking available on Princes Street. Please note Alfred Street thoroughfare is only for the Link Bus and service vehicles. Mobility card must be displayed at all times when parked at the disabled parking.
Public Transport: You can hop into the Free Red City Circuit Bus or catch The Link Bus which stops outside the Maidment Theatre.
Your Evening: Snacks and light meals can be purchased from the theatre bar before performances and during the intervals.
Dinner and Drinks: For a great dining experience close to the theatre try Mezze Bar on Durham Street or Waggamamma on High Street.
